This is how it starts

To me, nothing is scarier than a blank page. I don't claim this to be a unique fear at all, but it still is particularly crippling. In art classes I've often had to convince myself to start by making a bold, irreversible mark on the canvas. Only from there could I take a breath, realize that my projects could always allow for growth and change, and move on.

Making a mark is kind of like admitting something to yourself. Admitting that you do want to take that step. That you are going to move in that direction. That you do, in a sense, believe that you can.

There's a lot about NUMERIC that Rachel and I are excited about. There's a lot of growth we can see happening here, and that inspires us to no end. But the problem with starting something is that once you say it (or write it) out loud, suddenly there's something that can be taken away from you. Something to lose. But this project is a lot about taking those chances. It's a lot about naming those things that inspire you. It's a lot about taking all that inspiration and creating something beautiful, whether or not it is taken away.

We're just starting out, but we want to invite you along in the journey. We're so thrilled about where this could go and we'd love to have your support. And plus, I read somewhere that if you give something away, it can't be taken from you...so we're here to give you all the inspiration you need.

xx
